San Bernardino County Museum is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable
Fiscal Assistant to join our team! This position provides essential support to the Museum’s accounting operations and plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial processes. Responsibilities include verifying, auditing, classifying, and processing a variety of financial transactions such as payroll, accounts payable and receivable, travel claims, billings, reimbursements, and payments.
The Museum Fiscal Assistant may also handle cash transactions, reconcile daily sales, and generate reports from the Museum's point-of-sale (POS) system, including taxable sales in the gift shop and overall visitor attendance. Minimum RequirementsQualified candidates must meet
one of the experience options below:
OPTION 1: Experience: Twelve (12) months of full-time experience performing fiscal or accounting support duties involving arithmetic calculations, such as processing payments or reconciling accounts. Experience must also include customer service or public-facing work, including use of point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
Education Substitution: Six (6) semester (9 quarter) units of c ompleted college level accounting coursework, obtained from an accredited college/university, may be substituted for up to six (6) months of the required experience.
Completed courses and their corresponding credit values must be individually noted in the Supplemental Questionnaire. OPTION 2: Education: A completed Associate degree in mathematics, accounting/finance, or other relevant field of study obtained from an accredited college/university . This information should be clearly indicated in the Education section of the application.
A copy of your degree/proof of graduation must be attached. Desired QualificationsThe
ideal candidate will have proven experience in cash handling and strong mathematical and financial skills. Candidate should be proficient in computer usage, point-of-sale systems, and a variety of office equipment and software to input, retrieve, and process data and generate accurate reports and documentation.
Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills, and thrive in a front-desk role within a dynamic, family-friendly museum environment.
