    San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is recruiting for Ambulance Operator Field Specialists who lead the day-to-day operations of Ambulance Operators Paramedic and EMT in the field. Responsibilities include coordinating, training, supporting and planning programs; implementing policies and procedures for the Ambulance Operator and Patient Transportation Programs; and evaluating staffing needs and operational effectiveness for all shifts.

    Key responsibilities may include:

    • Develops program goals and objectives; directs, coordinates, and implements policies and procedures and operating standards for the Fire District’s Ambulance Operator and Patient Transportation Programs.
    • Assists in the administration, implementation, and monitoring of the District's Communicable Disease Program.
    • Assists with day-to-day operations and coordination of services; liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training institutions and hospitals.
    • Ensures adequate levels of staffing criteria and evaluates staffing needs and operational effectiveness for all shifts.
    • Coordinates scheduled maintenance, repairs, and annual inspections of Fire District ambulance and associated equipment.
    • Conducts, coordinates or participates in EMS public education functions, community programs and other public service activities; serves on various committees.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Background: A successful background check, job-related physical exam, and a drug test are required prior to assignment.

    Work Schedule: Candidates may be required to work on call, overtime, and evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

    License: Must possess and maintain a valid State of California Paramedic License and ICEMA Paramedic Certification.

    BLS/ACLS Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid BLS and ACLS card.

    Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

    Minimum Requirements

    Must meet ALL requirements below to qualify:

    EXPERIENCE:
    Two (2) years of experience working as a registered, licensed Paramedic within the Inland Counties Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) service area.
    --AND--
    LICENSE:
    Valid California Paramedic License. A copy must be attached to your application.
    --AND--
    CERTIFICATIONS:
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) cards. Copies must be attached to your application.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have experience teaching, coaching, and/or training in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) sector and possess strong communication skills. Experience as a Field Training Officer with San Bernardino County and experience as a Paramedic preceptor is highly desired. Additionally, the candidate will hold one or more of the following Instructor certifications: ACLS, CPR/BLS, PALS, PHTLS and possess experience as an EMS instructor at a college or educational institution.
