    Introduction

    About the Position:
    Provides criminal justice advocacy, victims' rights compliance, support, guidance, casework, and referrals for victims of crime.

    Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The midpoint salary is $77,688 annually.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services or related field from an accredited educational institution.
    • Two years' experience in victim advocacy, case management, social work, counseling or related field.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
    • Preferred: Experience providing trauma-informed care advocacy. Master’s Degree.

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/services assignment.

    Essential Functions

    • Provides information to victims concerning their statutory rights, procedures of the criminal justice system and facilitates communication with various representatives of the criminal justice process.
    • Serves as a liaison between victims and Prosecution staff, consulting with attorneys regarding victim input.
    • Provides personal advocacy, support, follow-up and referral assistance to crime victims.
    • Accompanies victims to court proceedings
    • Works with victims in securing Orders of Protection and Injunctions Against Harassment.
    • Generates and mails victim notification letters and provides necessary information to victims.
    • Performs case management duties while maintaining case files and electronic database documentation regarding case activities as well as statistical records

    • Most work is performed in a City office environment or courtroom.
    • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand and eye movement.
