Job Summary Mohave County Public Health-Nutrition & Health Division is looking fill a Community Nutrition Specialist II (Site Supervisor) position. This position is part of our WIC Nutrition Program, that allows you opportunities to help with nutrition counseling with in dividuals (i.e., Women, Infants and Children (W.I.C.) Clients). We are located at 700 W. Beale Street, Kingman, AZ
About us:Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a federally funded program providing residents with nutritious foods, one-on-one nutrition education and referrals. WIC serves pregnant women, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants, and children under age five who meet WIC eligibility guidelines.
Community Nutrition Specialist II (Site Supervisor) -> Starting salary, $31.55/hr. Work schedule is negotiable as either:
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm or Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm and Friday, 8:00am - 12:00pm.
Weekends and holidays off
Must be able to travel throughout different county locations. Working conditions would include but not limited to: - This position may do some outreach to other healthcare agencies or health fairs.
- Work environment is an office setting interacting with WIC participants as well as internal and external customers.
- Travel one - two times per month to outlying county locations as needed, including Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, Northern Arizona Strip, and other areas of Mohave County including attending at least one required conference per year in the Phoenix, AZ area while operating a Mohave County provided vehicle.
- Travel will include one - two times per a year to attend out of town meetings.
- The ability to work outdoors performing moderate labor in varying weather conditions, including strong winds, extreme heat to extreme cold temperatures.
- This position may also include the occasional moderate lifting of 1 - 50lbs.
- This position requires an equal amount of time spent standing, walking, running, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
Essential Job Functions- Conducts community outreach services for program expansion.
- Participates and/or coordinates community task forces/committees and special events.
- Provides high risk nutrition counseling to individuals (i.e., Women, Infants and Children (W.I.C.) Clients) and follow-up visits as required.
- Interprets program goals while monitoring compliance with state, federal, and local policies and procedures, regulations, and division rules.
- Authorizes special formulas in accordance with W.I.C. State policies when medically necessary.
- Supervises, coordinates and performs a variety of administrative staff work for an assigned area of the Nutrition Services Division of the Health Department. This work includes: scheduling; maintaining records; responding to requests for information or services; performing related administrative, planning and research activities; and preparing correspondence and reports.
- Completes performance evaluations; may make hiring recommendations; recommends disciplinary actions; approves vacations and time off; prepares work schedules and assignments; supervises the activities of assigned personnel; monitors reports and record keeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instructs personnel in departmental policies, procedures and techniques; and provides technical assistance and training for assigned Clerical/Technical/Paraprofessional subordinates.
- Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
- Create and maintain a supportive work environment with other departments and community programs, Public Health divisions, and Public Health leadership on accreditation domain while maintaining a culture of quality improvement.
- Apply basic principles, practices, techniques, teaching, and communication methods related to the age, gender, race/ethnicity, educational level, and socioeconomic status of community members.
- Communicate and act in a culturally competent and professional manner maintaining cooperative relationships with community members, co-workers, and work contacts.
Minimum Qualifications Required Minimum Education, Experience, and Training: - Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and/or related field.
- Must be a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Eligible.
- Two (2) years progressively responsible experience in the field of Public Health Nutrition.
- One (1) year supervisory experience.
- Or equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT - Willing to continue to obtain additional knowledge in the Nutrition field through reading of related information and materials and attending training and educational classes.

- Deal with clinic management issues.
- Set priorities, assign, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate work activities and to persuade assigned personnel effectively.
- Compile and analyze data and prepare reports.
- Make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Understand, interpret, and apply pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations regarding public nutrition programs to include departmental procedures and requirements.
- Deal with problems which may be controversial or sensitive in nature.
