RECREATION PROGRAM DRIVER (Part-Time)
Concord Senior Center The City of Concord is seeking experienced drivers to transport participants for the City's Senior Center in the Recreation Services Department.
Basic program information: The Concord Senior Transportation Program helps Concord seniors get around town with ease. Currently offering on-demand rides through GoGoGrandparent using Uber and Lyft, the program is expanding to include a free, curb-to-curb van service for even greater convenience. The expanded van service will include a Senior Center Shuttle, providing free rides to and from home to the Concord Senior Center, encouraging participation in the many social activities, enrichment and exercise classes, and the Café Costa lunch program offered by Meals on Wheels. The shuttle will be available Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. for Concord seniors enrolled in the program.
What you will be doing: The Transportation Program Driver transports seniors enrolled in the Concord Senior Transportation Program to various locations in Concord, using a 9-passenger van, which requires a Class C license. The position is part-time, limited service and must be able to work morning or afternoon shifts and attend weekly in-service trainings. Hours may vary based on scheduled program events between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weekdays, and will not exceed 8 hours per day.

Conviction History and DMV History: If you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). You will also be required to authorize access to your California DMV history report. The resulting reports of your conviction and driving history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with the City of Concord.
Examples of duties include, but are not limited to- Safely transport riders to and from assigned locations, while complying with any and all traffic laws and regulations, state laws and regulations, and City policies, procedures and best practices.
- Communicate with supervisor to receive and verify instructions.
- Report any delays.
- Implement safe and efficient operating of vehicle carrying up to 9 passengers.
- Conduct and log pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections.
- Safely and efficiently load and unload all passengers.
- Ensure that passengers are wearing their seat belts.
- Work cooperatively with program staff.
- Handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Maintain an impeccably clean vehicle.
- Complete monthly report to reconcile expenses for parking and other trip needs.
- Report participant, vehicle, or driver accidents/incidents in a timely manner, and accurately on the proper forms.
- Complete bi-weekly timecards in computerized system.
- Prompt and proper handling when vehicle maintenance issues arise.
QualificationsKnowledge of:- Safe driving practices.
- Traffic laws of the State of California Principles and methods of preventive maintenance.
- Safe work practices and procedures.
Ability to:- Safely drive a vehicle in a variety of weather conditions and locations.
- Read, write and speak English sufficiently to converse with staff, and participants.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Experience working or volunteering with seniors is preferred.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid Class C driver's license.
OtherMust be able to clear TB test and DOJ fingerprint clearance.
A clean DMV driving history is a requirement of initial and continued employment.
