    MOS Code: None

    Education and Experience : Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work, Gerontology, Public Health, Human Services, or related field and three (3) years of experience working with senior citizens or in a community advocacy role.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.

    General Purpose

    Under direction, works directly with older adults, caregivers, and staff to promote inclusion and empowerment across senior citizen programming and services. Conducts off-site outreach activities.

    Typical Duties

    Leads outreach activities to ensure that senior citizens participate in policy, programming, and service development. Involves: Establishing relationships with the Senior community that build trust, facilitate feedback loops, promote accessibility, and eliminate barriers such as ageism, isolation, and power imbalances. Facilitate regular senior-centered listening sessions and workshops to gather input on programs, policies, and environmental needs. Serve as a liaison between program participants, families, staff, and city leadership, advocating for improvements based on community feedback. Assist seniors in navigating available services, including transportation, wellness programs, food access, and caregiving support. Assess participant needs and interests through surveys and interpersonal interactions. Monitor program participation and engagement, and make necessary adjustments. Utilize existing resources and industry standards to determine participant interests and identify synergy with other community initiatives. Provide information and referrals to appropriate external resources and services.

    Promote intergenerational and inclusive activities that foster belonging and representation. Involves: Develop accessible communication materials and feedback tools. Organize, plan, and develop a calendar of recreational, social, and educational activities exclusively for senior program participants across city-wide facilities and programs. Ensure programming is safe and suitable for participants with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities. Identify gaps in access, safety, and service delivery among underrepresented senior groups. Represent seniors in community coalitions, advisory councils, and planning meetings to elevate their voices in decision-making.

    Provide staff training and coaching. Involves: Develop age-friendly and equity-based practices. Support program evaluation by collecting and analyzing feedback, preparing reports, and recommending improvements. Maintain case records, outreach logs, and engagement metrics under data privacy standards.
