    A Business Process Analyst II - SQL job is available with the City of Fort Worth Fire Department Emergency Services Division. This position serves as a technical liaison and project analyst with a strong emphasis on SQL applications and spatial data solutions. Administers and maintains SQL projects, systems, and geospatial business processes to support departmental objectives. Provides end-user support, conducts spatial analysis, and helps identify opportunities to enhance workflows through SQL technology. Acts as the primary point of contact for SQL-related system issues, user training, data integration, and application testing.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
    • Four (4) years of business experience and business analysis experience.
    • Valid Driver’s License.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of SQL.
    • Knowledge of visualization software such as Power BI.
    • Proficiency with ArcGIS.

    The Business Process Analyst II - SQL job responsibilities include:
    • Utilizes SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze historical dispatching data, combined with Power BI to develop advanced spatial and network analytics dashboards that optimize ambulance deployment and enhance emergency response strategies.
    • Designs and manages large-scale datasets using SQL databases; builds Power BI reports and visualizations to support fire operations, planning, and incident analysis.
    • Develops interactive Power BI dashboards by integrating multiple data sources (e.g., SQL databases, APIs), providing real-time, actionable insights for emergency services stakeholders.
    • Writes complex SQL queries to generate recurring and ad-hoc reports, ensuring accurate, timely information delivery to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Builds and maintains automated ETL processes using SQL scripts and Power BI dataflows to streamline data integration between CAD systems, SQL databases, and fire department applications.
    • Conducts data quality assurance and validation within SQL databases and Power BI datasets to ensure data integrity and compliance with city and departmental standards.
    • Collaborates with fire department teams to gather requirements, develop SQL-based solutions, and design Power BI reports that address business needs and improve decision-making.
    • Acts as the technical liaison for SQL and Power BI tools with IT, other city departments, and vendors; pursues ongoing training to stay updated on database management and business intelligence best practices.

    Working Conditions

    Depending on assignment, positions in the class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

    The successful applicant for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

    Physical Demands

    Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions it this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
