What Is This Job All About? As an Office Assistant I/II in the Colusa County Public Works Department, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is essential to successfully perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. You will play a key role in keeping the department organized and running efficiently. Your daily work will involve answering phones, greeting the public, processing paperwork, maintaining records, and supporting staff with various projects. You will assist with document preparation, data entry, invoice tracking, and scheduling, all while ensuring excellent customer service to both internal teams and the public.

Office Assistant II Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff.
May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level clerical staff.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Office Assistant I Experience: Six (6) months of administrative/clerical experience.
Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Office Assistant II Three years of responsible clerical experience, which included public contact/customer service.
Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Supplemental coursework or training in business administration or clerical skills is highly desired.
Supplemental Information Salary information (Based on 37.5) hour work week Office Assistant I $2,778 - $4,341
Office Assistant II $2,920 - $4,793
The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.Colusa County offers an excellent benefit package.
