Examples of DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to the following:- Direct the analysis and evaluation of requests to establish new users on the County network system to include appropriate hardware needs, user access to system applications, set up of appropriate security needs and accessibility of the user to application systems functions and network data bases in a network environment.
- Determine installation and configuration needs of new users to ensure compatibility with existing equipment and hardware/software applications.
- Install and configures additional and new software applications on to the network and ensures that authorized users may access the software.
- Provide on-going administration of the network monitoring the system to ensure that the number of users does not exceed licensing authority for applications and that adequate disk space and other equipment components are available to perform network functions.
- Determine the amount of disk space needed for current and future needs of the system and adds space and resources as needed.
- Confer with users to determine their hardware and software needs and recommends products and services to meet the user's needs.
- Review new product literature and materials provided by vendors and arrange for.
- Test products to ensure programming modifications meet user's needs and expectations.
- Identify needed programming modifications, writes detailed specifications of needed changes and submits to contract or in house programmers.
- Follow the status of contracted systems and or programming engagements to ensure deadlines are met.
- Train departmental staff in the application of new hardware and software.
- Train new staff and provide input to performance evaluations.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:Equivalent to graduation from a four (4) year college majoring in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field. (Experience in programming and computer operation may be substituted for the college education on a year for year basis.)
Experience:Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a network systems support analyst including one year comparable to a Network Systems Support Analyst II.
OR
Three (3) years of experience in a comparable position as a programmer analyst including two years of systems programmer experience in a personal, micro- or minicomputer network environment of which one year was comparable to a Network Systems Support Analyst II. Prior experience as a network administrator is preferred.

VACATION
10 days the first 5 years of continuous employment (limited to a maximum of 160 hours), 15 days in the second 5 years of continuous employment (limited to a maximum of 240 hours), and 20 days after 10 years of continuous employment (limited to a maximum of 320 hours).
SICK LEAVE
0.0625 hours sick leave for each paid regularly scheduled work hour. 16 days (130 hours per year) with unlimited accumulation. Optional annual buy back of a portion of accumulated sick leave hours upon meeting certain criteria.
HOLIDAYS
Twelve paid holidays annually plus two optional holidays.

Premiums for this insurance are paid by the employee. This insurance is administered solely by the State, who determines eligibility and payments. The County offers a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. Employees choose their investment funds and can make pretax contributions to the plan up to the maximum allowable.
MERCED COUNTY EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION The retirement plan is a defined benefit plan administered pursuant to the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 and other provisions of the California Government Code. MCERA members also pay into Social Security.The applicable benefit formula is dependent upon your hire date with an MCERA employer; yourpension amount will be determined by your age, years of service and final compensation amount.
