Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation with an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business or Public Administration, Aviation Management, or in a field related to the job. OR
- Two (2) years of experience in the U.S. Military Services, airport operations, or in another field related to the job.
- Any combination of education and work experience may substitute for the above minimum qualifications.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, and obtain and maintain federally-mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.

POSITION OVERVIEW :
This position is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the traveling public, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and City of Austin employees, and the neighboring community by recognizing and responding to violations of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
Inspect facilities and ensure safe operating conditions. Investigate problem areas and make recommendations for corrective action.
Respond to emergencies, make decisions and coordinate emergency activities, and implement emergency plans.
Research information as requested / needed. Write technical reports. Works with federal agencies, and airport tenants as required ensuring the safety, security and efficiency of airport operations. Answer emergency and non-emergency phone calls, determine nature of request and take messages when necessary.
Initiate, enter, and update the system.
Provide customer service to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and City of Austin Employees, other governmental agencies, and tenants by performing duties such as providing information using communication devices.
Record data in appropriate forms/logs.
Search for data on multi-application computer systems, operate/monitor multi-channel radio, audio/video, multi-agency, and multi-jurisdictional paging systems.
Coordinate the opening and closing of the airport (or portions of it) based upon airport conditions, safety factors, and emergencies.
Coordinate Investigations with other entities and Department of Aviation.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT
This position requires a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the
City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

A skills assessment will be required for this position.
ON- CALL / CALL BACK RESPONSIBILITIES
Position may require on-call or call back responsibilities.
SHIFT INCENTIVE
Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL
This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.
