The Position
Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform duties below the journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional health/human services class.
The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Health and Human Services Professional Trainee underfilling a Psychiatric Caseworker 2, with the Wraparound in Nevada (WIN) Program in Reno. Wraparound in Nevada (WIN) is a community-based program that provides intensive tiered care coordination/targeted case management to children/youth with serious emotional disturbances who have complex needs across multiple domains. WIN utilizes a screening/assessment process in partnership with youth and families to determine their needs and the appropriate level of care coordination. WIN provides tiered care coordination that includes both High Fidelity Wraparound (HFW) and FOCUS. Both models are embedded in the System of Care values and principles and place the child/youth and their family at the center of all planning. This position performs a variety of duties across community-based settings including youth and family homes. Duties include developing, coordinating, and monitoring plans of care, coordinating, and collaborating with community service providers, and partnering with youth and their families to develop and facilitate child and family team meetings. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree). Special Notes Some series may strictly require at least a bachelor's degree to qualify. Only applicants who possess a bachelor's or higher degree may be considered qualified for this class. Applicants must have a current Driver's License. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal background and fingerprint check is required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
