ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Clerk’s Office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Recordation Technician position. This position scans documents, archives images and related data for record keeping. The candidate will be responsible for capturing, processing, verifying and managing digital and hard copies of various marriage, business and board documents. The ideal candidate will conduct complex record searches for both internal and external customers and will participate in the implementation of departmental records destruction and retention schedule of documents.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND four (4) years of full-time general clerical experience, two (2) years of which includes receiving, examining and recording a variety of legal documents. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application.

Working Conditions: Shift work: employees may be scheduled for day, mid, swing, night shifts or any other irregular shift deemed necessary by the department and may be asked to work other shifts as needed. May require overtime - at times with little notice based upon operational need, including weekends and/or holidays.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Provides lead direction, training and work review to a work unit; organizes and assigns work, sets priorities, and follows-up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work.
- Assists in the selection of staff; provides input and/or evaluates the work of assigned staff.
- Examines various legal documents and maps for sufficiency, completeness and adherence to laws, codes and recording requirements.
- Enters information into an automated system for permanent indexing; records such elements as date, fees, transfer taxes, document numbers, names and addresses; indexes for retrieval as appropriate.
- Validates documentation by comparison to original source documents; validate indexing and document code accuracy; amends and updates databases as required.
- Explains recording requirements to the public, including providing information regarding transfer taxes and fees.
- Reviews computer printouts for accuracy and completeness.
- Balances and maintains records of fees and other monies received.
- Maintains accurate records; prepares a variety of periodic and special reports regarding the work of the unit.
- Organizes and prepares documents for microfilming.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Performs a variety of general office support work such as filing, answering telephone inquiries, typing correspondence; opening, handling, and distributing mail; and reproducing various documents, including parcel maps.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSMobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, stamina to use repetitive hand and wrist motion in the performance and application of typing and data entry for extended period of time, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. May be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
