    The Job

    The Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk's (ARC) office is seeking Records Technicians who determine the recordability or filing of legal source documents; retrieve, research, prepare, and/or provide certified copies of legal documents, official records, and vital records; assist the public in self-service research of official records of property ownership, deeds, liens, etc., via microfiche and archives; prepare copies of maps and documents; calculate and collect fees; issue applications for marriage licenses and perform civil marriage ceremonies; and accept, review, and process filing applications for Fictitious Business Name Statements, Abandonments, Dissolutions of Partnership, Withdrawals of Partnership, and Proof of Publications.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    1) A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance and be willing to travel to all locations as needed, and work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    2) Offices are currently located in Hesperia, Joshua Tree, and San Bernardino and the RV-Mobile unit.

    Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

    **Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Proposition 172 Sales Tax Collections performance.

    Minimum Requirements

    CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTION REQUIREMENTS:

    OPTION 1
    Must possess six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience in a title, real estate, escrow, insurance, mortgage, banking institution, law office, government, or related office environment.

    OPTION 2

    Must possess one (1) year of full-time equivalent clerical or office assistant experience within an office environment or equivalent.

    All work experience must be clearly detailed and demonstrated on the application AND supplemental questionnaire to ensure qualifications are properly considered (resumes are not reviewed). All information must be current and up to date.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have the ability to:
    • Review, understand, apply, and explain laws, regulations, and policies governing legal documents.
    • Perform basic arithmetical calculations.
    • Deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
    • Provide information and respond to questions from the public.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other staff members.
    • Multitask.
    • Meet departmental production standards.

    Spanish/English Bilingual Skills are highly desirable and should be noted on the application. Candidates who wish to be considered for bilingual positions must indicate bilingual ability on the application and may be subject to bilingual screening.
