TRANSPORTATION SPECIALISTSENIOR CENTER The City of Concord's Recreation Services Department is seeking to fill a part-time Transportation Specialist position at the Concord Senior Center. This position will automatically close when 60 applications have been received, or no later than Friday, May 9, 2025. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
Concord Senior CenterThe Concord Senior Center has been serving the senior community for over 20 years, offering recreation programs, trips and tours, educational seminars, Meals on Wheels services, Senior Club membership, and information on other community resources.
The GoGo Concord Transportation Program helps Concord seniors get around town with ease. Currently offering on-demand rides through GoGo Grandparent, the program will soon expand to include a free, curb-to-curb van service for even greater convenience.
What you will be doing:The Transportation Specialist will educate current and new members on the programs offered through the GoGo Concord Transportation Program and guide and direct them to additional options other agencies provide as appropriate. They coordinate the hiring, scheduling, and training of all Van Service Drivers, set driver schedules and routes, and work with customers to navigate additional GoGo Grandparent resources for Uber & Lyft on-demand rides. Additionally, they will monitor and add monthly subsidies, track ridership data, and recommend program adjustments as needed.
This position is part-time, limited service, and must be able to work approximately 20 hours per week. A set schedule is preferred, but hours may vary between 8:30 and 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday depending on need.

Examples of duties include, but are not limited to- Educate the public on program offerings, providing information and assistance by telephone and in person
- Develop and prepare promotional materials for review by others, disseminate as needed
- Assist with enrolling members into the program, collecting required documentation
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of Van Service Drivers
- Communicate with and schedule Drivers
- Ensure the vehicles are fueled and clean
- Occasionally serve as back up to Drivers, transporting program participants as needed
- Monitor and enforce program policies
- Assist with report writing
- Assist with gathering and analyzing data
- Occasionally serve as back up to the department's customer service team by performing administrative or receptionist duties
- Other duties as assigned
QualificationsKnowledge of:- Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Principles and processes for providing internal and external customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar
Ability to:- Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making
- Give appropriate attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and asking questions as appropriate
- Maintain appropriate attention to detail based on the complexity of work performed

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Two years relevant clerical or secretarial experience. Experience working with seniors is desirable.
OtherA valid California Drivers License and satisfactory driving history is a condition of initial and continued employment. Must be able to pass fingerprint check.
