The role includes coordinating and communicating with vendors for the design and production of election materials, overseeing inventory, and ensuring the timely preparation of election equipment, materials, and supplies. Additionally, the assistant supports the development and updating of procedural guidelines, compiles reports, and creates spreadsheets for analysis and documentation.

ABOUT THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS The mission of the
San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters is to conduct the County’s elections in a fair, accessible, secure, transparent, and efficient manner, upholding the highest level of election standards and accuracy, while always providing excellent customer service to both our team and the diverse population we serve.
The Registrar of Voters also performs all voter registration functions, including the storing and maintaining of voter registration records, administering all local, state, and federal elections managing voting systems and equipment, performing election ballot processing and vote tallying, training of poll workers, and providing voting-related services to voters, elected officials, campaign groups, and other community stakeholders.
Conducting elections is both exciting and challenging. Attention to detail is critical, and working as a team is vital to accomplishing successful elections. Permanent staff, temporary staff, and volunteers assist in the variety of complex tasks required to conduct elections. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check which includes fingerprints, medical exam, and review of employment history.
Work Schedule: During peak election periods the Registrar of Voters' staff are required to work a significant amount of overtime, which includes evenings, weekends (both Saturdays and Sundays) and early morning/very late hours on election day/night.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees may be required to make provision for transportation. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.
Physical: Some assignments may require palletizing, forklift operation, and lifting items weighing over fifty (50) lbs.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
*Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.
Minimum RequirementsEXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a role that involved planning and coordinating projects and events, as well as reading, interpreting, and following strict procedures and general guidelines to perform assigned work.
Experience must also include proficiency in using desktop computers and standard office software applications. Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have a proven track record in planning projects and events of various sizes, conducting trainings, and excelling in both oral and written communication, with a strong focus on customer service. They ideally have experience in an election environment and demonstrate proficiency in standard office software, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and MS Visio. Familiarity with learning and utilizing specialized software is preferred.
