Position SummaryPositions at this level are assigned responsibilities involving direction of the entire nursing or health care program for the assigned region.
Position Responsibilities /Essential Functions- Provide Nursing Leadership for the entire district.
- Provide Clinical Leadership (WIC, mobile unit oversite).
- Focus on promoting, nurturing and growing positive work cultures among nursing staff at all sites.
- Serve on committees at state office to bridge the knowledge gap between State and County; working in a collaborative effort towards efficient, client-centered public health.
- Serve as a liaison between the Director of Nursing Service and nursing personnel.
- Meet with Director of Nursing on a regular basis for leadership activity planning (staff development/professional growth).
- Collaborate with Nursing Service on PHN needs and identification of challenges for problem resolution.
- Serve as a member of the Regional Administrative Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with Nursing Service as a liaison with program and services areas for planning, service provision, policy, procedure, efficiency, efficacy, and opportunities for improvement.
- Actively participate in review of the Physician Approved Protocols, Nursing Service Procedure Manual and Program Developed training materials/resources for the CHD Nursing Staff to ensure documents are clear and could function efficiently within the workflow of the clinic setting.
- Serve as a member of the Regional Administrative Leadership Team.
- Participate with human resource members that make up the Personnel Advisory Committee and local leadership for the purpose of Progressive Discipline.
- Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.

Education and ExperienceRequirements at this level consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, or a master’s degree and two years of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity. Furthermore, the applicant much have an additional year of professional nursing experience in a managerial or consultative capacity or providing consultation an educational services in a specialized field or program.
Valued Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequired at this level consist of knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques; of expense control, and purchasing procedures; of the philosophy and objectives of the nursing department; and of the principles and practices of effective supervision. Ability is required to direct, motivate and evaluate staff; to plan and implement programs; to develop controls to monitor effectiveness of programs; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement an effective health care program. Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the services provided or the programs offered. Ability is required to interpret, analyze, and resolve highly complex administrative and personnel problems, and to direct and coordinate the activities of multiple work units and divisions engaged in a broad range of functions.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThis position is set in an office environment. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Applicants must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position. Being present at the office is an essential function of this position.
