    The Business Process Specialist - Financial Data Management position is needed within Corporate Support Services ( CSS ) and will focus on financial data management, enhancing business process improvements, analyze Excel-based budget reports, and create dashboards to present key financial insights. This role will support leadership in making data-driven decisions and ensure alignment with organizational financial goals. The Business Process Specialist will provide support to CSS business units; Facilities Management, Planning & Project Development, Supply Chain, Fleet, Security, and Business Operations. This position will serve as a liaison between CSS business units and Austin Energy Finance division, ensuring data accuracy and producing error-free reports that support strategic objectives.

    This position is considered FLSA Exempt. Exempt employees are salaried and, except as provided, are not eligible for overtime compensation.

    Critical:

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.

    Pay Range
    $29.23 - $36.54

    • Proven high level of organizational skills with the ability to plan for and meet multiple deadlines, follow-up on action items, develops and maintains financial data management and department needs.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing financial data and leading cross-functional teams across all organizational levels to drive collaboration and alignment.
    • Problem solving skills in analyzing financial data to identify opportunities to provide process improvement analysis and recommendations for department processes and projects.
    • Experience evaluating financial performance metrics to ensure critical processes operate efficiently and recommend and implement data-driven process improvements.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and adjust work accordingly to meet delivery timelines commensurate with degree of financial risk and impacts involved.
    • Experience in developing and editing financial data presentations and facilitating cross-functional meetings.
    • Experience communicating effectively and professionally with the public, and provide excellent customer service.
    • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    Assists in planning, executing and closing projects in a variety of operational and/or administrative situations related to specific assignments/areas. Develops and maintains databases to support data analysis and research findings for business projects. Assists in preparation of recommendations for implementation of new or revised policies, procedures, and/or process changes/improvements. Write reports that summarize findings, data collection techniques, implementation options, etc. Establishes project schedules using project planning software/tools, updates and maintains project status reports. Communicate project/process status. Conduct research, analyze trends, determine accuracy and relevancy of data/information, and use sounds judgment to evaluate alternatives. Facilitates and documents meetings, action items, and processes using flowcharting methodologies. Maintains positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support.

    City Government
