    The Position

    Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.

    Under direction, Personnel Analyst I's perform entry level professional personnel work as described in the series concept in one or more functional areas in Human Resource Management or a State agency.

    This position will be located in the Las Vegas HR office of DETR. The primary responsibility of this position will be to process and make determinations on FMLA, PFL, and CAT leave requests. This will include maintaining logs, corresponding with employees and supervisors, and tracking FMLA usage. Other duties include overseeing records maintenance for personnel and payroll actions; providing quality customer service to both internal and external customers; coordinating community outreach at offsite job fairs; and participating in HR outreach sessions for DETR staff.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field; OR three years of experience as a Personnel Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

    The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
