Full-time Salary Ranges
Library Assistant I - $46,654.40 - $73,340.80 Annually
Library Assistant II - $51,251.20 - $80,620.80 Annually
Part-time Hourly Ranges
Library Assistant I- $22.43 - $35.26 Hourly
Library Assistant II - $24.64 - $38.76 Hourly
This recruitment will establish an Eligibility List for the Library Associate I/II position, which will expire on 05/05/2026. T his recruitment may be used to fill m ultiple Full-time, Extended Part-time, Part-time, and lower-level vacancies.
Your Impact
- Assists library customers in the use of library services and technology; performs lending services functions such as checking in/out materials, registering new patron accounts.
- Handles money for fees or other purposes.
- Assists with interpreting library policies and procedures for customers; maintains confidentiality of customer records.
- Responds to customers regarding general and routine directional inquiries and refers customers to appropriate resources and staff.
- Assists with collection maintenance as directed.
- As directed, assists with the supervision of facility rentals and enforces rules applicable to that reservation.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with some clerical and/or customer service experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
- Ability to possess or obtain a First Aid and CPR certification within three months of employment is required.

Library Services will become a new division within the
Community Services Department . To deliver programming and services along with award-winning events and experiences, the department is organized into six divisions: Community Parks and Outreach; Athletics, Aquatics, Arts, Great Park Operations & Attractions; Human Services; Events, Reservations and Program Services; Library Services; and the Irvine Animal Care Center. The department also includes a Business Services section that assists with budget and contract management.
The Process
The selection process will include an examination and a background investigation prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
