    The Board of Supervisors have authorized the following future salary increases:

    5% on July 1, 2025

    The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is seeking to fill two (2) temporary Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician positions assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center located in Martinez, CA.

    As a Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, you will make a difference in patient care by helping others in the sterilization process by ensuring safe practices for our patients.

    The incumbent(s) will receive supervision from the Sterile Processing Supervisor or the Nursing Manager of the assigned Health Center.

    What you will typically be responsible for:
    • Preparing and packing decontaminated instruments for sterilization
    • Inspecting and sorting instruments, checking for pitting, rust, stiffness, sharpness
    • Operating steam sterilizers and Vpro max sterilizers
    • Operating washers, ultrasonic and cart washer
    • Processing the cleaning of endoscopes
    • Looking up policies and one source for IFU's

    The eligible list may remain in effect for six (6) months.

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out-of-state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.

    Education: Possession of a high school diploma, a G.E.D. equivalency, or a high school proficiency certificate and proof of successful completion of a formal sterile processing training program.

    Applicants must attach a copy of their Sterile Processing Training Program certificate .

    Substitution: Two (2) years recent full-time or its equivalent experience in a Sterile Processing unit of an acute care hospital performing sterile processing and distribution functions may be substituted for completion of a formal sterile processing training program.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Previous experience working in sterile processing at a hospital
    • Knowledge of cleaning and processing scopes in the medivator
    • Have a Sterile Processing Certificate


    Selection Process

    1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.

    2. Training and Experience Questionnaire: Candidates will be required to complete a training and experience questionnaire at the time of filing. The responses to the training and experience questions on the supplemental questionnaire will be used to evaluate candidates r elevant education, training and/or experience as it relates to this classification. (Weighted 100%)

    The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.

    CONVICTION HISTORY

    DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

    All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
