    The Job

    The Purchasing Department, Central Mail Services is recruiting for a Mail Processor III to act as a lead worker in overseeing a major section of the operation. Mail Processors collect, sort, process, and deliver mail for various County departments, using a variety of mail processing equipment and machines; assess and prioritize the work of staff; monitor work accuracy and efficiency; provide prompt and efficient customer service to client County departments with special mail service needs; compile and maintain routine reports, files and records; and gather and input accounting data in an automated system.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Background Investigation: Prior to appointment, candidates must pass a background investigation including a fingerprint check, DMV check, and pass a pre-employment physical including a tuberculosis test.

    Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent moving, lifting, and carrying of items up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 70 lbs, either manually or with the aid of lifting devices.

    Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

    Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

    *Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.

    Minimum Requirements

    CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS:
    OPTION 1
    Must possess one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a centralized mail processing operation which included operating mail processing equipment such as: inserting machines, postage mailing machines, automated labeling machines, and folding machines. (Note: office clerical experience is not considered qualifying.)

    OPTION 2
    Must possess one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience carrying out courier and/or delivery routes that serviced multiple locations and determining delivery schedules and best route sequences . (Note: public transportation or food delivery is not considered qualifying.)

    (All relevant experience with mail operation processes and/or courier/delivery must be clearly detailed in the Work Experience section of the Application.)

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be technically savvy with two (2) years of experience in a centralized public sector mail operation performing various mail processing and mail courier functions as described above. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator with outstanding leadership skills and will be customer service driven and results-focused in order to provide prompt and efficient service, including prioritization of customer services.
