    The Position

    Contributions Examiners are responsible for the accurate registration of liable employers for unemployment insurance, reporting and collection of federally and State mandated unemployment taxes and State mandated employment taxes, and determination of liability of employers' tax liability dates, tax rates, and eligible years of experience rates.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    This recruitment is for a Contributions Examiner 2 - underfill for Contributions Examiner 3, located in the Work Distribution Center (WDC) of the Contributions section. This incumbent will be responsible for supervising six positions, which consists of two Contributions Examiners, two Administrative Assistant 3s, and two Administrative Assistant 1s. The WDC supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with established DETR policies, rules and regulations. This position will assign, monitor and review staff duties; devise strategies for increasing productivity; maintain activity logs; and prepare and submit required management reports. This WDC unit is responsible for collecting all monies, entering quarterly reports, establishing bank channels, and assisting with allocation of suspended payments to accounts. Duties of the position require one to lead a team, plan and accomplish workloads, maintain statistical reports, enforce disciplinary measures as needed, and troubleshoot problems to a resolution. This position also provides daily customer service assisting employers with questions regarding their online setup to ensure timely filing of quarterly reports and questions regarding payment on their accounts when needed.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of bookkeeping or collections experience involving the interpretation and application of rules, regulations and laws; OR one year of experience as a Contributions Examiner I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
