    The Position

    Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.

    The Nevada State Railroad Museum located in Carson City is one of seven museums operated by the Division of Museums & History within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. The retail storekeeper serves as a key staff member within the administrative program area of the museum. The incumbent will be responsible for all facets of retail store operations to include budgets, short-term planning, merchandise purchases, receiving, pricing, sales, security, and inventory. An online store is being developed and will be managed by this position. The storekeeper also recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer staff to assist in operations. This position is integral in programming and developing inventory that enhances exhibits.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school and two years of storekeeping or retail experience, one year of which included performing physical inventories, maintaining records and ordering merchandise; OR one year of experience as a Retail Storekeeper I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
