OVERVIEWThis is a paid internship, 15 hours per week (flexible Monday - Friday), between May - September 2025.
KITSAP COUNTY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Kitsap County supports internship programs that provide work experience for students related to their course of study in an accredited post-secondary institution. The internship program is designed so that the student will have the opportunity to apply principles and theories learned in the classroom, gain new skills, explore a career path, and be supervised and mentored by professionals in their field.
The successful candidate will assist with some outreach, marketing support, website, and other office duties and will participate with the Accessible Community Advisory Committee ( ACAC) and other Developmental Disabilities support activities and agencies.
- Term of internship: This is a 12-week internship that may begin in May/June.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMinimum Qualifications :
- Must be able to show proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution at the time of internship. If the internship occurs during the summer, the student may provide proof of summer or fall enrollment.
Desired Majors and Class Level - Human Services or related
- Sophomore(2Y) - Senior(4Y)
SUPERVISION - Intern will receive supervision from an administrative superior as assigned.
- Work is performed in accordance with established policies and accepted practices.
- Work is reviewed through status reports, meetings, and observations.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE OF DUTIESLearning Objectives:
- Outreach: Learn how to interact and work with agencies and clients.
- Leadership: Working with the Accessible Community Advisory Committee ( ACAC) will provide for some planning, organizing, and leading a group of volunteers.
- Coordination: Weekly meetings with familiarize the intern with HS processes and duties
- Teamwork: Working with the Developmental Disabilities Team will educate and introduce the intern with HS teamwork, organizing, communication, terminology, etc.
- Facilitation of Community Programs: Engaging and navigating community programs to increase communication, problem solving, and complex needs of community.
