Position DescriptionThe
Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office invites applications for the position of
Sheriff's Forensic Laboratory Technician (Extra-Help) position. Incumbents primarily perform a variety of routine laboratory procedures, validate test results, enter data into the Crime Laboratory database, and perform general technician level Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) work.
Please note: Temporary (extra-help) employees are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, are not entitled to benefits, do no obtain permanent status, and serve at the will of the department head.
As a condition of employment with the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office, candidates must undergo and pass a thorough and rigid background investigation and polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination (background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years). The background investigation includes employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. Minimum QualificationsEducation : Completion of twelve (12) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or a closely related field, including at least one (1) laboratory course.
Substitution : One (1) year of full time, paid laboratory work experience may be substituted for the required education.
License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

SELECTION PROCESS: Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
Please Note: - The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months and will be used to fill extra-help positions.
