    The Position

    Right-of-Way Agents appraise, acquire, relocate, clear, and manage real property for the State and, as requested, its political subdivisions.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    Right-of-Way Agents appraise, acquire, relocate, clear, and manage real property, coordinate with utility operators for the State and as requested, its political subdivisions. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position requires knowledge and experience with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970, as amended (Uniform Act) and all applicable Code of Federal Regulations. This position may also coordinate with Utility Companies, Municipalities, Public Utility Commission, UPRR and other impacted parties for relocation and adjustment of facilities in conflict with Department projects. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, real estate, mathematics or related field and two years of professional experience in right-of-way operations, real property appraisal, planning and zoning, escrow and title, real estate, tax assessment, real estate development, or similar area; OR one year of experience as a Right-of-Way Agent I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
    The following additional questions are part of this Recruitment

    1) Describe your experience reading and interpreting civil design/construction plans.

    2) Describe your experience working with utility companies.

    3) Describe your experience with property management activities.

    4) Describe your experience and/or knowledge related to the Federal and State laws and the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970: a) Acquisition; b) Relocation assistance; c) Appraisal and/or Waiver Valuations; d) Property management; e) Utilities/railroad relocation; and/or f) Occupancy permits. Alternatively, share your experience and/or knowledge of Nevada Revised Statue Chapter 111, which covers Estates in Property, Conveyance, and Recording. Include the number of years and which positions within your employment history to which this experience was gained.

    The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
