    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Administrative Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Employee Benefits Coordinator position for the Office of Risk Management. As a member and supervisor of our team, the Employee Benefits Coordinator will provide complex, technical, and specialized support to various County departments and supervise 2-3 team members. The ideal candidate will be responsible for work related to staff supervision and training, FMLA rules and regulations, workers' compensation processing as well as project-based initiatives. The candidate will report to the Employee Benefits Manager.

    THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to an Associate's Degree with major course work in business, public administration, healthcare or a related field, AND four (4) years of full-time experience with employee benefits programs including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.

    Background Investigation:
    Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically, after employment background investigations may be conducted.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
    Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Plans, organizes, manages and reviews diverse office and general administrative support activities through subordinate supervisors and/or lead staff.
    • Coordinates activities and services with those of other divisions, County departments and governmental agencies to meet the needs, goals and objectives of the unit; assists in setting such goals and objectives.
    • Researches operational and administrative problems, evaluates alternatives, recommends solutions, and implements adopted changes.
    • Performs significant administrative support and/or coordinates work for the department head or designated manager, often with department-wide implications.
    • Supervises and reviews the work of subordinate supervisory and office support staff; trains staff in specific departmental and unit policies and procedures.
    • Evaluates employee performance and effectively recommends employee selection, initial disciplinary action and other personnel activities.
    • Provides for the training and development of assigned staff.
    • Answers inquiries, provides information and resolves complaints from the public or employees regarding assigned functions and activities, which often requires the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies, rules and procedures.
    • Compiles statistical data and information, maintains various records, and prepares special and periodic reports.
    • Contributes to the overall quality of the unit's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
    • Ensures work complies with financial and contract requirements; verifies the accuracy and effectiveness of accounting records and transactions.
    • Meets with management to discuss findings and contract compliance or internal control problems; interprets various laws, rules and regulations to determine applicability.
    • Recommends policies and procedures; may assist in preparation of training manuals; reconciles vendor billings and ensures that authorized payments are correct and reflect the appropriate enrollees.
    • Coordinates and consults with vendors, third party administrator (TPA), as well as medical facilities and contracted physicians.
    • Prepares a variety of correspondence, reports procedures, reports and other written materials.
    • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
    • May drive a personal or County motor vehicle to attend meetings and visit various work sites.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and capable of traveling to other various work sites or County locations by automobile or other form of ground transportation; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
