The purpose of the
Maintenance Worker II position is to perform building construction, inspections, repairs and maintenance to PARD Facilities, including Historical, Administration, Museums, Recreation and Community Centers.
Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to:
- CARPENTRY WORK : Perform carpentry work to construct or repair walls, fabricate cabinets, repair or replace doors, windows, siding, and trim.
- HARDWARE : Maintenance and repair of door hardware, including door closers, locksets, deadbolts, panic bars, door stops, hinges, thresholds, kick plates, and weather stripping.
- DRYWALL WORK : Tape, float and texture of sheet rock and applies spray and roll texture.
- PAINTING : Latex, oil base, varnish, sealers on walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, equipment, etc.
- OPERATE POWER TOOLS : Drills, circular saws, routers, grinders, sanders, radial arm saws, table saws, pneumatic nail guns, etc.
- USE INDUSTRY TOOLS : Measure and layout using measuring tape, level, squares, string line, laser level and transit.
- INSPECT : Buildings, structures and RECORD data on appropriate forms, logs and iPads, Desktop computers, etc.
- EQUIPMENT : drive a forklift and operate an aerial lift.
- SAFETY : perform duties in compliance with health and safety regulations.

- Physical Requirements: Tasks may involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying or using a force equal to lifting up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Work environment includes inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme temperatures, and hazards associated with equipment operation including fumes, oils, gases and mists. Must be physically and mentally able to communicate, respond and work with participant’s needs and safety issues.

Pay Range
$21.63 - $23.79 per hour.
Hours
Work Location/Schedule Notes: - Monday - Friday; 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- May be required to work during special events, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs and programs.
- May be required to work during city emergencies such as extreme weather events.

- Experience with commercial door and door hardware installation, troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience with wood and metal stud structural framing.
- Experience with drywall installation and tape, float, and texture of gypsum board.
- Experience with interior and exterior painting.
- Experience with acoustical ceiling grid and tile installation and repair.
Preferred Certifications: - Fork Lift 29 CFR 1910.178 Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
- Aerial Lifts 29 CFR 1926.453 Operator Training Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
- OSHA Construction Safety and Health 29 CFR 1910 Operator Training Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred Skills: - Basic proficiency with Desktop/iPad computers and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance. Performs minor repairs to tables, chairs, cabinets, etc. Installs or replaces floor and ceramic tiles. Repairs or replaces electric plugs and cords. Drives vehicles as needed. Moves furniture, file cabinets, equipment, etc. using hand dollies. Performs service on pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, etc. Repacks, changes oil/filters, lubricates, etc. Operates drills, buffers, grinders, sanders, etc. Operate various power saws, i.e., radial arm, skill, etc. Operates acetylene cutting torch, welder, etc. Performs basic plumbing installations/repairs i.e., install and repair faucets, unclog drains, replace valves, etc. Measures using tapes, transits, levels, etc. Performs semi-skilled carpentry work in the construction and repair of walls, ceilings, etc. Reads profiles/blueprints.
