    The Mathematics Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is seeking to hire full-time lecturers for two-year contracts, with appointments beginning September 11, 2025 and ending approximately May 21, 2027. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a master's degree is $66,084 - $71,508 annually. The anticipated hiring range for a finalist with a doctorate degree is $78,432 - $89,772 annually. Primary duties and responsibilities are to teach undergraduate pre-calculus and calculus courses.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related discipline such as Physical Science or Engineering is required.
    • All requirements for the Master’s degree must be completed before September 11, 2025.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Doctorate degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is preferred.
    • Experience teaching a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses at the collegiate level.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

    Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.     ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

    The Mathematics Department offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses. There are approximately 175 sections of math classes each quarter with an average lower-division enrollment of 35 per class. The faculty consists of approximately 33 permanent faculty, 15 temporary (both full-time and part-time), and 15 graduate teaching associates. The Mathematics Department does not offer any courses in statistics or computer science.
