IntroductionProvides engineering solutions and offers professional opinions on a wide variety of development projects and issues. While much of the work is technical in nature, the Development Engineering group interacts with private developers and consultants, and coordinates with multiple stakeholders including public agencies and various City departments.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $101,670.40 annually. First review of applications will be March 26, 2025. Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
- Three years of work experience developing plans, specifications and estimates for various public works projects including roadway, drainage, water and sewer improvements.
- An equivalent combination of education and / or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Credentials and Other Requirements- Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, OR by the technical board of another state with the ability to obtain Arizona Registration through reciprocity within 6 months of employment.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
Essential FunctionsPerforms duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Reviews development projects and plans for compliance with engineering principles and City regulations and policies governing required drainage, traffic, grading and water and sewer improvements, acquisitions of right-of-way, property and easements.
- Provides technical engineering advice to other City divisions.
- Conducts engineering research.
- Determines compliance of construction plans with City codes.
