The Position
In the Records, Communications and Compliance Division of the Department of Public Safety, NCJIS (Nevada Criminal Justice Information System) Program Specialists provide training, conduct on-site compliance audits, provide quality control, and coordinate system access, upgrades, or enhancements for NCJIS users and recipients of the system's criminal justice information to ensure compliance with user agreements, established policies and procedures, federal and State laws, and to maintain the integrity of the system.

NCJIS Program Specialists perform a variety of critical tasks within the NCJIS Service Desk to support the Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS), ensuring effective and efficient operations while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. Under direction, incumbents provide technical support for Nevada's civil partners and internal customers, assisting them in gaining and maintaining access to the new Nevada Civil & Criminal Information System (NCCIS). Responsibilities include call-taking functions, account unlocks, troubleshooting user access, system research, managing data entry updates, responding to emails, assisting with training activities, and other related tasks. Specialists are responsible for providing timely and accurate support to allied agencies, internal customers, and members of the public while upholding strict compliance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies. Reporting to the NCJIS Service Desk Supervisor, this position provides vital support to the organization's mission by maintaining the integrity of the criminal justice information system. Responsibilities include documenting incidents in ServiceNow, tracking progress and updates using Smartsheet, troubleshooting system issues, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to Federal and State requirements. The work schedule is currently Sunday through Thursday with shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on office needs. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work on all state holidays except New Year's Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, computer science, communications, business, or closely related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and 12 months of paraprofessional experience (equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service) which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; coordinating communications between the manager, staff, and program clientele; or researching information from internal and external sources; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes NCJIS/NCIC (National Crime Information Center) certification is required within six months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Certification in NCJIS/NCIC is required within six months of employment and recertification every two years for continued employment. An in-depth pre-employment, State fingerprint and FBI fingerprint background investigation are required of the selected applicant. As a condition of employment, pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must first submit to a pre-employment screening test for controlled substances.
