    The Position

    Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.

    *** THIS RECRUITMENT IS INTENDED FOR USE DURING THE STATE OF NEVADA HIRING EVENT ON TUESDAY 3/4 AND WEDNESDAY 3/5. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO WERE PRESENT AT THE EVENT, HOWEVER ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED AND CONSIDERED. ***

    Provide leadership, information, technical assistance, and consultative services to develop, execute and report Nevada Department of Education (NDE) policies in alignment with the Nevada Academic Content Standards, instructional material support, assessments, and professional development. Provide services as an NDE representative or liaison to national/state organizations, task forces, committees and/or panels dealing with education, trends, data, and implementation. Provide leadership and content expertise relative to education initiatives, grant reviews and management, and various cross office initiatives. Provide time and commitment for personal, professional and technical growth and skills enhancement.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Doctorate degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area, which included experience in at least one of the following areas related to the current vacancy: leading and managing a team that supports organizational goals; evaluating a program and/or program participants for compliance purposes or outcomes; developing and implementing a vision for desired outcomes; and/or communicating with diverse stakeholders across various platforms; OR Master's degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and two years of professional experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

    European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
