    Anticipated Hiring Range

    $5,600 - $6,294 Per Month ($67,200 - $75,528 Annually)

    Salary is commensurate with experience.

    Position Summary

    Under the direction of the Director of Brand and Marketing and in close collaboration with the Lead Digital Communications Specialist, the Digital Content Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing the University’s digital presence through effective web content strategy, analytics and SEO. This position ensures alignment with institutional goals, branding guidelines, accessibility standards and user experience best practices while supporting marketing and communication initiatives.

    Position Information

    Web Analytics and Reporting
    • Create and improve systems to organize, analyze and share data and online content.
    • Leverage platforms like Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Looker Studio and tagging systems to track, measure and optimize website and campaign performance.
    • Build monthly web performance reports, including insights on key metrics, user behavior and conversion opportunities, to inform decision-making.
    • Share regular updates with the campus community via memos and newsletters to promote transparency and progress.
    • Teach stakeholders about SEO, digital analytics and conversion strategies to enhance their effectiveness.
    • Identify areas of opportunity to drive conversions, streamline user journeys and improve user engagement.

    Web Content Strategy and Optimization
    • Edit and proofread web content to align with university branding, style and accessibility standards.
    • Optimize web pages for SEO, including delivering keyword research to the content team using tools like SEMRush.
    • Ensure all web content is compliant with accessibility and branding standards while maintaining a focus on driving user engagement and conversions.
    • Conduct website audits to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices for content structure and layout.

    Digital Campaign Assistance
    • Work on digital marketing campaigns, creating trackable metrics and UTM links for assets like email, social media and advertisements.
    • Partner with Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC) enrollment marketing specialists to analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide actionable insights.
    • Collaborate on campaign tracking and reporting to evaluate effectiveness and identify trends.
    • Provide data-driven recommendations for optimizing resources, allocating budgets, and improving campaign performance.

    Email Development and Management
    • Build and format emails in Blackboard, using HTML as needed to ensure accessibility, branding compliance and proper functionality across devices.
    • Provide support and collaborate with SMC’s Directors, Media Relations Specialist or the President’s Office, to create and send email communications, including emergency notifications, campus-wide announcements and ad hoc messages.
    • Maintain a high level of accuracy by proofreading email content for grammar, spelling and style consistency.
    • Monitor and test email performance to ensure proper delivery and functionality, troubleshooting technical issues when necessary.

    Additional Responsibilities
    • Actively monitor University websites for broken links, accessibility issues and technical errors, ensuring all content aligns with institutional goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide training and guidance on SEO best practices and content optimization.
    • Stay updated on industry trends in web analytics, marketing and content strategy to continuously improve processes and tools.
    • Respond to content and technical requests promptly, offering solutions that address users’ needs.

    Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Ability to identify, develop, and coordinate plans for use of site resources (e.g., staffing budget, and materials) and to define site procedures for ongoing administration and maintenance.
    • Ability to maintain materials, inventory, and technical references and administer facility and system security practices.
    • Knowledge of system utilities, features, installation and maintenance procedures, and general operation.
    • Basic knowledge of data and file structures, database systems and related utilities, operating systems, and communication interface programs.
    • Ability to perform system, database, and network maintenance tasks and to use standard software packages.
    • Knowledge of local area network system configuration, protocols, and/or transmission media.
    • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot system connection and interface malfunctions.
    • General knowledge of operating systems and hardware for problem identification and analysis.
    • Knowledge of copyright laws and industry standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist others in completing work assignments including the ability to provide basic work direction and training.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Proficiency in:
      o CMS/Drupal
      o Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Looker Studio and tag management systems
      o SEO tools like SEMRush
      • Strong skills in campaign tracking and reporting using data visualizations and UTM links.
      • Demonstrated ability to optimize content and web pages for SEO and user engagement.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft and proofread content for multiple mediums.
    • Excellent time management and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, self-motivated and adaptable to changing priorities.
    • Two years of experience in higher education or a similar environment.
    • Experience with project management tools and digital asset management systems.
    • Proven ability to interpret and communicate data insights in a clear and actionable format.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on data-driven decision-making.
