    The Position

    Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

    This position performs a broad variety of clerical, secretarial, and administrative support duties in support of the Nevada Real Estate Division's Licensing Section. Incumbent will report directly to the Licensing Section Supervisor under the supervision of the Licensing Manager. The position catalogs and monitors all background investigation results from the State Department of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation. Duties include but are not limited to: Processing of fingerprint cards and matching the results of background checks with applicant files and logging the results into the Division's database and sending letters to applicants concerning rejected fingerprints. The incumbent creates, maintains, monitors retention, and coordinates destruction per retention schedule of various licensing files. This position also provides back-up telephone support for the Licensing Section and assistance with management of licensing files. The incumbent acts as a Customer Service Representative at the Nevada Real Estate Division's Service Counter, refers constituents to appropriate staff from multiple sections of the Nevada Real Estate Division and assists with questions or issues that may arise at that counter when needed. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Division's mail team and must have experience with mail processing which includes opening, sorting, logging, stapling, and distributing mail within the section. This position performs additional clerical tasks including, but not limited to, data entry, filing, copying, scanning, faxing, letter preparation, and other correspondence as directed by the Licensing Manager and any other duties as requested by the Administrator and management. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
