    The Position

    Bargaining Unit: Local 856 - General Services & Maintenance Unit

    Contra Costa County’s Public Works Department is seeking qualified individuals to fill multiple Stationary Engineer - Systems Specialist II positions. All interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. The position oversees the planning and designing of building Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning (HVAC) automated control systems; oversees the installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of building control and energy management systems; manages the energy management system network and associated equipment; troubleshoots and performs routine maintenance and repair of building control systems; and performs other related work as required.

    Contra Costa County Public Works Department (CCCPWD) maintains over 660 miles of roads, 150 miles of streams, channels, and over 200 County buildings throughout Contra Costa County. CCCPWD provides also a multitude of services to the public throughout unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County.     What you will typically be responsible for:
    • Maintains the energy management systems network in County buildings.
    • Oversees a master plan of County controls installed in County facilities.
    • Work with authorized County controls vendors on installations and repairs of control systems.
    • Ensure existing systems and sub-systems stay up to date and provide trouble free operation.
    • Maintain, re-program and repair building control systems, including software and firmware upgrades as required.
    • Work with County Stationary Engineers on building control operational sequences.
    • Perform routine testing of building control devices and diagnosing errors.

    • You may be assigned to work in a Detention Facility around inmates or detainees and /or in a hospital or medical setting around patients.
    • You will spend time working alone around Contra Costa County, without a team member or supervisor present.
    • Scheduling work to meet customer needs such as working nights and weekends.
    • Coordinating work with multiple IT groups in other departments.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Visio
    • Experience working with logic programming
    • Knowledge of network system operations
    • Ability to diagnose control systems issues

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Possession of a valid California Driver's License. Out of state motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.

    Education: Completion of an apprenticeship or certificate program in Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC).

    Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or the equivalent of full-time experience in operating, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing HVAC systems and controls, at least two (2) years of which must have been with Direct Digital Control (DDC) building HVAC systems and controls.

    Special Requirement : Completion of an Energy Management Systems class within one (1) year of appointment for this position.

(Weighted 100%)
    3. Department Hiring Interviews: To be scheduled once the eligible list is established.

    DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
