    Minimum Qualifications
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major coursework in Business, Public Administration or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of professional experience in staff support functions such as personnel, purchasing, or finance,(2) two years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
    • Master’s Degree may substitute for required experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
    • Experience or education may substitute up to the maximum of four (4) years.

    This position will supervise the Digital Evidence Management Unit ( DEMU ) consisting of seven civilian Police Digital Audio-Video Specialists with occasional help from temporary civilian and light-duty sworn staff as needed during periods of above average demand. The DEMU is responsible for compiling digital evidence consisting of body-worn camera video, in-car camera video, surveillance video, photographs, and scanned documents generated by detectives, patrol officers, and members of the public. The DEMU is also responsible for sending the digital evidence to members of the public who have submitted official public information requests and other criminal justice organizations like prosecutors and partner law enforcement agencies. The DEMU supervisor will assist with this process and have responsibility for:

    • Overseeing the storage of digital media
    • Responding to public information requests and agency-to-agency requests as well as overseeing the redaction of records as required by law
    • Ensuring compliance with state law, city ordinance, and department policy regarding fulfillment of public information requests and record retention schedules
    • Prioritizing work products of individual staff and the unit as a whole
    • Deploying management directives and meeting performance targets for the unit
    • Reviewing business processes, developing process improvements, and implementing them
    • Troubleshooting technological and procedural errors
    • Training new staff and performing the full range of supervisory duties (e.g., scheduling, coaching, etc.)
    • Reviewing images, videos, and written descriptions of criminal activities, which may be graphic and/or disturbing in nature

    City Government
