    The Position

    Health Care Coordinators perform professional work related to Medicaid program operations and auditing providers to ensure compliance with program policies and regulations.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The Aging and Disability Services Division is currently recruiting for a full-time Health Care Coordinator 1 (underfill Health Care Coordinator 2) position in Reno, Nevada. This recruitment will be used to underfill positions within the Health Care Coordinator series. Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following programs: Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) and Facility Outreach and Community Integration Services/Money Follows the Person (FOCIS/MFP).

    The Health Care Coordinator 1 manages a caseload of program recipients in urban and rural areas, providing case management, assessing needs, and coordinating services based on individual care plans. Responsibilities include monitoring services, referring to community resources, maintaining databases, completing reports, and attending required training's. The role involves regular communication with recipients, supervisors, and stakeholders to ensure health and safety needs are met.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Licensure as a Social Worker or professional licensure or certification in a medical specialty applicable to the assignment. Special Notes As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Professional licensure or certification as a social worker, nurse or in a medical specialty issued by the appropriate licensing board in the State of Nevada at the time of appointment. Incumbents must maintain professional licensure or certification in their specialty as a condition of continuing employment. Travel up to 50% of the time is required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
