    POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

    The After Hours Facility Supervisor position is responsible for assisting the Recreation Specialist staff in the management of Christopher Fields Softball complex during weekend and after hours rentals, which includes four (4) softball fields, restrooms, adjacent parking lots and contracted concession stand. Work is performed under general direction and reviewed periodically by Recreation Specialist staff. Position requires working mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and may require the ability to travel to other work at all City Park facilities as needed. Recreation staff have the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of program participants.

    The availability of work hours for this position will be determined by these factors: program length, weather, and budget. The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

    GENERAL COMPETENCIES
    Job Specific - Every employee in this position must be able to:
    • Work effectively with the public, coworkers, and other City employees
    • Direct City of Westminster Police Department Staff in issues relating to facility rental
    • Show leadership and assertiveness in enforcing rental policy guidelines and maintaining guest control in situations which may include intoxicated guests
    • Demonstrate knowledge of recreation operations and philosophy
    • Effectively handle emergency situations such as, injuries, lightning in the area, disgruntled guests and park maintenance concerns
    • Follow established guidelines concerning facility operations such as usage policies, emergency procedures, personnel supervision, revenue receipt, and accounting
    • Make decisions recognizing established procedures and practices, and to use resourcefulness and tact in meeting new situations and/or problems
    • Recognize possible perpetrators of criminal activity, and to take appropriate action
    • Work courteously with the public and support the City of Westminster guest service philosophy and the SPIRIT values

    JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

    Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks Assists in after hour rental facility supervision of Christopher Fields softball complexAssumes responsibility for recreation facility while on duty and maintains discipline in all areas of the complex during rentalAssists in maintaining facilities in a clean, neat, and safe mannerOpens or secures the facility as assigned before or at the conclusion of an after-hours rentalExplains and provides information to facility users, completes checklists with renter prior to and at the conclusion of rentalFollows department guest service philosophyMaintains regular and punctual attendance Other Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of City of Westminster recreation facilities and emergency procedures including emergency evacuation procedures, emergency shut off valves, city emergency and building maintenance contactsMonitors guest safety with high level awareness to safety and potential hazardsAssesses complex to insure optimum safety of guests and staff during event by evaluating flow of guests, emergency exits, and ease of monitoring alcohol distribution Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City's discretion.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

    Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
    Required :
    • Must be at least 21 years old
    • High school diploma or GED
    • First Aid, CPR and AED certification within 90 days of hire
    Preferred :
    • College coursework in recreation or closely related field
    • Experience in recreation facilities
    Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.

    Physical Requirements
    This position requires a moderate degree of physical stamina and strength, including the ability to:
    • Frequently sit, stand and walk through a multi-level facility
    • Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, twist, climb, balance and reach over head
    • Occasionally lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
    • Frequently use hands and fingers for fine manipulation; occasionally use light and firm grasp
    • Frequently see objects up close to perform office tasks and far away to observe activity for safety hazards or problems
    • Constantly use hearing to interact with guests and staff and recognize trouble outside of view
    • Occasionally use sufficient physical strength, stamina and agility to perform emergency work in various capacities

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Work is constantly performed outdoors with occasional indoor activity. Indoor and outdoor work is performed in a high public use softball complex, where loud noise, weather and multiple events and activities at one time may cause a distraction. Exposure to periods of high activity and stress under demanding conditions. The position requires a great deal of communication with City employees, the public, and outside agencies.

    Required Materials and Equipment
    Personal computers, keyboards, typewriters, fax machine, calculators, telephones, copy machines, and other standard office equipment. Cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms and cleaning chemicals. Dollies and other standard maintenance equipment.
