The candidate for Senior Construction Worker will be assisting with the maintenance, repair, and daily operations of our police headquarters facility, parking garage, and all off-site substations. The candidate must possess a multitude of skills and knowledge associated with facilities construction and maintenance including masonry, HVAC maintenance, plumbing, basic electrical, framing, drywall installation and finishing, painting, and power cleaning. Candidate must be willing to work during declared emergencies and during large scale city events. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, and multitasking skills.

- May assign and oversee work of construction workers
- Completes minor renovation projects
- Inspects and repairs playground equipment
- Ensures continued operation of building and facilities systems; performs service, repair, and inspections
- Maintains inventory and proper care of tools, materials, and equipment
- Estimates materials needed and workload for projects
- Performs maintenance on city buildings; performs painting and drywall replacement
- Performs roadway repairs and maintenance.
- Repairs and restores existing plumbing systems
- Performs general carpentry and other construction type activities
- Installs doors, hardware, locks, etc.
- Develops proposals for projects; creates cost estimates
- Completes minor renovation projects such as bathrooms with little to no assistance
- Inspects and repairs playground equipment
- Performs general property maintenance such as blowing leaves and dumping outside trash
- Develops proposals for projects; creates cost estimates
- Assist with remodeling and demolition projects for buildings and structures
- May prepare informal quotes for materials and services
- Performs related work as required or directed by lead worker or supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENTHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency or trade school completion. Five (5) years of construction experience. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida Driver's License within 30 days of hire.Depending on department, must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B with Air Brake. Special Requirements: As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads. Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine who will be required to work.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The position involves heavy physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
