    The Position

    Under close supervision, the Community Aide assists in providing direct services to clients and/or serves as a liaison between other agencies in various Self Sufficiency programs including housing, employment, and public assistance. This position assists staff in referring clients to other public agencies and other organizations for programs and services; prepares program information material including community resources for distribution; provides transportation for clients when necessary and other courier duties in support of the program; provides documentation on clients’ needs/attitudes relative to program services and assists clients as necessary with program related applications, forms, and supportive services; assists in collecting program required information from clients and assists staff in preparing for and conducting housing, employment and financial literacy classes workshops and as needed, may translate for Spanish-speaking clients and translate program information material.

    This recruitment is being conducted to fill current full-time vacancies. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year. This position is bilingual Spanish and requires the ability to speak, read and write Spanish.

    Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Salary Increases and Winter Time Off (WTO):
    • 3.5% COLA increase effective 7/1/2025
    • 3.5% COLA increase effective 7/1/2026
    • 32 hours of Winter Time Off (WTO)
    • Bilingual Pay for level II: $180.00 biweekly

    Position Requirements

    Experience and Education:
    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

    Experience:
    Some experience working with community groups which has provided knowledge of the problems, needs, and attitudes of the community as they relate to Health & Human Services Agency programs.

    Education:
    Ability to read and write at a level required for successful job performance.

    License or Certificate*
    Possession of a valid California Driver's License.

    Special Qualifications:
    Incumbents may be required to work evenings and weekends.

    Incumbents may be required to travel independently. Certain designated positions may require the ability to speak Spanish in addition to English.

    *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e., active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

    The Recruitment Process

    Supplemental questions will be scored by subject matter experts. The most qualified applicants from the scoring of the supplemental questions will be invited for an Oral Panel Interview.
    Bilingual Skills Examination Tentatively scheduled for the week of March 17, 2025.
    Candidates will be scheduled for oral and written examination. Oral Panel Interview
    Tentatively scheduled for the week of April 7, 2025
    Establish Eligible List Week of April 14, 2025

    Napa County employees automatically become Disaster Service Workers. This means that when Napa County experiences emergencies (earthquake, wildfire, power outage, etc.) you may be asked to pivot from your regular duties to provide critical services to those affected by the emergency (CA Govt Code § 3102).

    SALARY -
    Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
