    Position Overview

    The City of Henderson is looking to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Emergency Manager in the City's Department of Emergency Management.

    Under limited supervision, plans and administers the City's Emergency Management Program for managing natural and man-made disasters, and coordinates on all issues of homeland security; and performs other duties as assigned.

    The City of Henderson is a Baldridge award recipient, and the emergency management program is accredited by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). A successful candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and can demonstrate municipal Emergency Management experience including project and grants management, strategic planning and implementation, team building leadership, and EOC operations.

    Note:
    This position is required to respond to urgent situations at night, on weekends and on holidays.

    Salary and Benefits
    • Competitive Salary Range of $91,786.02 - $137,679.03 annually; salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity*

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field
    • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in providing professional-level management support, two (2) years of which were in emergency management program planning
    • Possess and maintain certification as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) within three (3) years of hire
    • Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver's License as defined by NRS 483
    • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
    • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
    • Desirable: Supervisory experience

    Selection Process

    PAID TIME OFF (PTO)

      • Second year through fifth calendar years of service - 17.42 hours per month
      • Sixth year through twelfth calendar years of service - 20.59 hours per month
      • Thirteenth calendar year of service and beyond - 23.75 hours per month

    *Actual number of days and hours of PTO granted may vary by position

    BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
    • Four (4) workdays of leave, with pay, per occurrence

    HOLIDAYS

    WORK WEEK
    • Four-day, 9.5-hour workday, 38-hour work week
