Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) I and LVN II, who prepare patients for procedures; assist medical staff with treatments and procedures; and provide health education, referrals and resources to patients. Duties include providing basic nursing care to patients; assisting physicians and registered nurses with a variety of procedures; conducting home visits to interview patients; and providing education and training for medical providers.

As an alternative to the traditional benefits package, LVNs are eligible to elect the Modified Benefit Option (MBO) that provides an increased base rate of pay ($1.75 per hour above the base rate of pay!) with modified benefits. - Recruitment and Retention Bonus: Bonus payment up to $2,000 in total compensation may be available for newly hired employees from this recruitment.
- Remote Assignment Bonus: Bonus payment up to $2,000 in total compensation may be available for newly hired employees assigned to a remote area from this recruitment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Licensure/Certification: All required licensure and certification must be obtained prior to employment start/hire date, and must be maintained through the duration of employment. Visit the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (CA BVNPT) website to view a list of approved providers that offer certification courses in IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal which have been approved for LVN by the CA BVNPT.
BLS Certification: Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be provided within 30 days of employment start/hire date, and must be maintained through the duration of the LVN I/II employment.
Background Check: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation and verification of employment history and education including a physical exam and drug screening.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, f ingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
Visa Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Travel/Driver License: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.
Trainee: LVN I must be promoted to journey-level classification,
LVN II, upon successful completion of the trainee period (e.g., preceptorship, orientation, and/or certification, completion of 2080 hours, and a successful work progress report; as applicable), or be terminated. Refer to the MOU for additional information.
Minimum RequirementsLVN I and LVN II applicants must possess all of the following licensure/certification requirements:
Licensure: Valid
Vocational Nurse License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (CA BVNPT).
Certification: Valid
Intravenous (IV) Therapy/Blood Withdrawal certification for LVN issued by a provider approved by the CA BVNPT.
Valid
Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) .
LVN II applicants must also possess the following experience requirement:
Experience: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a clinic or outpatient care work setting (e.g., home health, correctional nursing, hospice, skilled nursing, acute care facilities, etc.).
Desired QualificationsBilingual Skills: Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation
Outpatient clinical experience, preferably in a Public Health setting, is highly desirable
