Department of Conservation and Development (DCD):DCD is headed by a Director, and within DCD there are five (5) divisions under a Deputy Director or Assistant Deputy Director: 1) Current Planning; 2) Policy Planning 3) Building Inspection Services; 4) Business and Information Services, and 5) Housing and Community Improvement. DCD’s main office is located in Martinez. DCD has a total staffing of approximately 165 positions serving the entire County of Contra Costa. The position will be assigned to the Finance unit within DCD’s Business and Information Services division.
Contra Costa County’s Fire Protection District (CCCFPD):Contra Costa County Fire Protection District has two vacant positions in the Admin Finance and Payroll unit. The positions may assist with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and/or Payroll for over 650 employees. The positions will work with other team members and report to a Departmental Fiscal Officer.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months. Minimum QualificationsExperience: Four (4) years of full-time experience in the preparation and processing of accounting documents and in the maintenance of accounting records, one (1) year of which was at the level of Contra Costa County Account Clerk Advanced classification.
Substitution for Experience: Completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in accounting from an accredited college or university can be substituted for one year of the required experience; completion of additional education units or a college degree in business administration, finance, accounting, auditing, or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Desirable Qualifications:- Cost Accounting experience in a government environment
- Experience in processing county accounts payable procedures in Work Day or other financial systems (JVs, Supplier invoices, Ad Hoc payments in Work Day)
- Knowledge of electronic deposit procedures and the county’s deposit procedures
- (DCD) Accounting experience in construction, building inspection, and planning
- (DCD) Knowledge of Accela or other permitting applications
- (Fire) Advanced Excel Skills
Selection ProcessApplication Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
Online Multiple Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the online multiple-choice assessment. The assessment will be conducted to measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. These may include but are not limited to writing, attention to detail, and customer focus.
