    The Position

    Revenue Officers research and investigate public and bank records and locate real property, lien information, credit, and tax history from a variety of sources such as bank records, court records, and credit bureaus;examine real property, liens, credit, tax history, income, and the taxpayer's place of business to identify assets and liabilities; compare assets and income to liabilities to determine the ability of the taxpayer to pay delinquent taxes.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.

    This position is in the Motor Carrier Division and located in Carson City. The Revenue Officer 1 (underfill of a Revenue Officer 2) is primarily responsible for customer service through the administration of regulations and laws specific to the Motor Carrier customer. This position is responsible for the assessment and collection of fees and fines and conducts investigations into compliance violations. The incumbent will conduct investigative research to determine and resolve the customer's issues in accordance with State and/or Federal regulations and establish payment schedules based on taxpayer income and/or assets. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience in one of the following areas: 1) management of a small business or a branch or major activity in a large business with responsibility for collection of delinquent accounts which must have included the authority to grant, adjust and arrange terms of credit; or 2) one year of experience as a collection agent in a collections agency which must have included the authority to grant, adjust and arrange terms of credit; OR one year of experience examining tax returns or claims in a government, insurance or financial setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Contributions Examiner I, Tax Examiner I, or Compliance Investigator I in Nevada State service. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
