Position Summary: Provides preventive care and/or treatment to patients with a variety of conditions, illnesses and/or injuries while promoting the Healthy Living Institute in the community by developing and implementing customer related programs.
Job RequirementEducation/Experience:Graduation from and accredited school of nursing and three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in the appropriate specialty area.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:Valid License by State of Nevada to Practice as a Registered Nurse. Some positions may require Certification in a Specialty Area and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS - accepted by the American Red Cross); Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements
Preference will be given to applicants who document the following:
1. Possess a valid Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification or obtain it within one (1) year of employment
2. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends
3. Current (within the past two (2) years) experience providing education to patients, family and the community
4. Lactation counseling experience/certifications
5. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Maternal/Child Nursing
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical RequirementsKnowledge of:Performance improvement principles and methods; specific area of clinical nursing or program focus; Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations (JCAHO), State and Federal standards; community agencies with interests in relevant services; Nurse Practice Act; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage and use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.
Skill in:Implementing nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation; developing programs; nursing principles and practices; developing policies and procedures; applying grant writing and grant management techniques; applying needs assessment techniques; applying adult education practices; developing public relations; applying cost accounting methods; organizing and prioritizing among conflicting priorities; applying team building concepts; facilitating groups; performing statistical analysis; using computers and a variety of software applications; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, including stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, and strength to examine and treat varied patients, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
