    Position Summary

    Position Summary:
    Assists with heart or vascular catheterization diagnostic and interventions. Assisting in cardiac electrophysiology, pacemaker and ICD implants. Duties include obtaining and recording precise cardiac and/or hemodynamic measurements and identifying abnormalities.

    Job Requirement

    Education/Experience:
    Two (2) years of recent experience in Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology experience.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) through the National Commission for Certifying Agency (NCCA); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).

    Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

    APPLICANTS WHO DOCUMENT THE FOLLOWING WILL BE GIVEN PREFERENCE:

    • RCIS Certification
    • Minimum two (2) years experience:
      • Interventional Cardiology
      • Interventional Electrophysiology including Pacemakers and Catheter ablations
      • Structural heart, TAVR, Balloon Pumps, Impella, and FFR


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

    Knowledge of:
    Medical terminology; radiation control and principles; congenital heart disease, including associations and complications, treatment options and prognoses; aseptic techniques and sterile field setup; hemodynamic wave form recording and analysis; valve area calculations; cardiac and vascular anatomy, rhythms and pressures; catheter curves, rated burst pressures and compliance; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; age specific patient care practices.
    Skill in:
    Computer monitoring of heart catheter and related procedures; using computer for data input and retrieval; Reading rhythms and detecting changes; inputting and retrieving using computer; Using defibrillation equipment; applying basic cardiac life support procedures; instructing patients about procedures and post-procedure rules and guidelines; writing reports using proper descriptive terms and language; performing basic cardiac life support procedures; applying sterile techniques; manipulating diagnostic equipment; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
    Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, strength to examine varied patients, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
