    The Position

    Bargaining Unit: Local 21 - Non-Supervisory Management

    The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is currently recruiting to fill one (1) Information Systems Programmer and Analyst I vacancy. All interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.

    We are looking for someone who is:
    • Driven. You have a proven track record of successful work delivery in day-to-day operations and larger project initiatives
    • Experienced. You can design, code, test, and troubleshoot issues, front-end and back-end, for proprietary on-premises thick client applications and thin client web applications
    • Knowledgeable. You are experienced with .NET Windows framework environment, Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL database, Crystal Reports, and APIs
    • Team oriented. You have a positive attitude, are adaptable, and can work well with others
    • Able to take initiative. You are independent and have the drive to learn and research on your own

    What you will typically be responsible for:
    • Developing new applications and maintaining existing applications
    • Providing reports as requested
    • Familiarizing yourself with all databases
    • Interpreting user requirements and providing accurate data in the format desired
    • Improving user experience by enhancing application performance, implementing an intuitive navigation system, optimizing the visual layout, increasing user benefits, and replacing manual processes
    • Providing first-level support for vendor solutions

    The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future openings for up to six (6) months.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: Possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college with a major in computer science or information processing; OR completion of 24 college semester units, or 36 quarter units in computer science or information systems or closely related field.

    Experience:
    One (1) year of full-time or its equivalent experience performing software applications programming or systems analysis.

    Substitution for Education:
    Additional-qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a .net framework developer on the Windows platform who is familiar with using Microsoft Visio Studio, SQL database, and Crystal Reports.
    • Java, C# coding languages used.
    • Familiar with backend infrastructure such as servers, VMware, API, and service connections.
    • Web application design, development, testing, and troubleshooting experience.


    Selection Process

    Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment processTraining and Experience Evaluation: Consists of an evaluation of each candidate's relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire. (Weighted 100%) Departmental Hiring Interview: To be scheduled once the eligible list is established.

    CONVICTION HISTORY

    DISASTER SERVICE WORKER

    All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
