This position is Extended Part-time with a schedule requirement of 32 hours per week. The City of Irvine seeks a passionate and motivated individual for the Extended Part-Time Public Safety Assistant - Parking Enforcement position. This particular position will perform a wide variety of non-sworn, support tasks for the Traffic Division of the Public Safety Department. The primary duties of the Public Safety Assistant assigned to Parking Enforcementinclude:
- Answering calls for service.
- Marking, warning and towing abandoned vehicles.
- Issuing parking citations.
- Acting as a School Crossing Guard as needed.
- Assisting with directing traffic and road closures at traffic collisions and crime scenes.
- Duties also include providing excellent customer service and conflict resolution.
During training, Parking Enforcement Officers must be available to train assigned days with a trainer during the hours of 6:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Once training is complete, shifts are assigned based upon seniority and each parking enforcement officer will work 3-4 days per week.

All applicants must be able to pass the Public Safety background check process.- Associate's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field with at least one year experience in law enforcement activities, community service, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Requires a valid California drivers' license.
- Depending on assignment, may be required to obtain certification in first aid and CPR.
