    Position Summary

    Position Summary:
    Performs a wide variety of highly skilled technical duties in the design, construction, assembly, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of large, complex and state-of-the-art voice and data communications systems, equipment and facilities.

    Job Requirement

    Education/Experience:
    Equivalent to a Associate Degree in information technology, or related field and two (2) years experience in the construction, assembly, troubleshooting, testing and repair of a wide variety of electronic communications systems, equipment, devices and facilities.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Some positions may require a valid Radiotelegraph or Radio Telephone General Class Operator's License issued by the Federal Communications Commission.

    Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

    Experience with Avaya/Nortel or similar PBX systems Experience with Telcom equipment Experience with phone and network wiring principles and technologies Experience with VOIP systems Experience with Call Center ACD management, workflows and scripts

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

    Knowledge of:
    Telecommunications theory and practice; data transmission systems and electronic test equipment; common sources of trouble in and the methods of servicing and repairing all types of control, signal, public address, telephone, noise monitoring, microwave and other data transmission, radio, video and equipment; test equipment, tools and materials employed in the construction, servicing, installation and repair of such systems and equipment; safety precautions and hazards involved in working on or installing energized lines and equipment and of the necessary safety principles and practices; Federal Communications Commission regulations pertaining to the operation and maintenance of industrial radio services communications systems; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

    Skill in:
    Hardware used in telecommunications systems; cabling and transmission test equipment ; locate and trace trouble in all types of electronic control, signal, public address, radio, video, telephone, telephone carrier, microwave, noise monitoring, telemetry, and data transmission system, electronic test equipment and related equipment; use electronic test equipment, tools and materials employed in constructing, servicing, installing and repairing such systems and equipment; adapt established practices, procedures and principles of electrical and electronic circuitry to particular problems, conditions and service needs of such systems and equipment; deal tactfully and effectively with officials and the public; keep records and make reports; understand and work from communication plans, schematic diagrams, sketches, drawings, and oral and written instructions; prepare diagrams and sketches; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; communicating effectively in oral and written form; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
