Job SummaryThe Associate Director of Systems & Fiscal Operations has the responsibility for providing leadership and oversight to staff, and in support of the CMS Financial Aid Module (systems) and Fiscal operations of a comprehensive student financial aid delivery system that administers over $340 million annually. The position provides strategic direction and guidance on the utilization of existing and deployment of new technologies to achieve optimal quality of service and leads process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The Associate Director also employs project management skills to facilitate operational objectives and oversees required statistical data and financial reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities - Provide leadership and strategic direction for the PeopleSoft Student Administration Financial Aid Module activities, including the development and utilization of automated processes and technology to facilitate quality service and enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide leadership and management support to the financial aid team through medium- and long-term planning, developing office policy and philosophy, facilitating staff development, mentoring team members, and supervising staff.
- Provide oversight, direction, and ensure effective and efficient coordination, planning and monitoring of workflow for the financial aid fiscal operations unit.
- Manage and coordinate required financial aid data reporting activities with Federal, State, and System-wide entities.
Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of on-line student information system (PeopleSoft preferred) and imaging systems. Knowledge of standard financial aid processing systems, applications, and verification procedures. In-depth working knowledge of financial aid programs. Skill in performing accurately with heavy workload requirements and the ability to use effective time management. Strong Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, faculty, and peers.
Proven ability to analyze user needs and translate into detailed specifications. Proven ability to design, develop, implement, and maintain complex technical rules in support of business processes. Demonstrated ability to analyze data requirements and research data availability and access methods. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage staff with full knowledge of personnel policies.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and ExperienceEquivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field (education, business, social sciences) and a minimum of three years of related experience required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of five years of related experience strongly desired.
Physical Summary - Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

CompensationHiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $7,500 - $10,417 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU MPP Compensation Summary Range: The MPP Comp Summary Range for this position is $8,339 - $12,509 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
